A. Human: A New York Fashion Week Experience

What if extreme body modifications became the latest thing in high fashion? What if, in the near future, people accessorized by augmenting their actual bodies instead of buying clothing?

This was the question posited by A. Human, one of the most provocative New York Fashion Week pop-ups of 2018.  Celebrity influencers helped generate significant buzz leading up to the event was by showing off the futuristic “body-mods” on social media.

We helped bring this ambitious vision to life for a temporary instagram experience in Soho. The environment was inspired by luxury retail stores with a futuristic vibe.

The experience was featured in Hypebeast, The Verge, and Vogue.

Client: Society of Spectacle (SOS)

Partners: Ghost, De-Yan Studio

Role: Art Director

Visitors were confronted with real actors outfitted in prosthetics and posing in custom display cases.

One of my favorite parts of this exhibit was the the realistic looking human heart we created. Using a motion sensor hidden in a rock within the scenery, it beat faster or slower depending on the proximity of guests.
